Alberta Doulas Organization
Our company mission is to further the trade of Doulas across Alberta. We seek to ensure a minimum standard of education and training for the interests of public safety. We are governed by a Board of Directors and members. All members must obtain continued competency credits in order to maintain a membership in good standing with the Alberta Doulas Association.
We are a not for profit organization that provides low cost and free education in the community in the areas of:
- Lactation,
- Nursery planning,
- Pre and Post Partum support,
- Lamaze classes,
- Birthing methods courses
We operate on a sliding fee scale and sometimes charge no fees to persons in need. Doulas must obtain a membership and be in good standing. We are actively seeking to have our trade gain recognition and doulas to be a governed trade in Alberta. In the interim, our association investigates any complaints made by the general public against our members. We aim to uphold public safety.

Our Services
We provide community resources for low income families. Board members are required to attend events, recreational events, and refer to other community partners. Volunteers must take children to and from events as needed, visit families in their homes, and personally meet families to intake them into the program.
Our board consists of 4 members responsible for overseeing operations and personally meeting each family in the program. Board members are required to volunteer 5 hours a week visiting families, tending to events, and performing intakes. Since these positions will require a level of trust with vulnerable populations, a criminal records check with a vulnerable sector search must be provided. We require this for any member of the board and all doula members in our association.
